Video: Sergey Prokofiev Complete Visions Fugitives Op. 22

Sergey Prokofiev – Visions Fugitives Op. 22 - A fascinating set of pieces, Visions Fugitives was created out of the spontaneous compositional style of Profkofiev, who would usually write down musical ideas as they occurred to him, to put them together later on. In 1915, five of these short pieces were born, and composed six more a year later. In 1917 he added the remaining nine, shaping a set of 20 miniatures that comprised different moods and characters individually and showed a logical sequence when performed as a whole. This Video was recorded in one single take at Auditori Can Roig i Torres in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona. Watch Video

Gershwin Piano Concerto with Barcelona Municipal Band

banda program 2013L’Auditori - We finish the season with the visit of Alex Alguacil, pianist from Barcelona with a great international projection, who will be championing the extremely difficult and spectacular Concerto in F by George Gershwin, the North American composer who created the symphonic jazz genre by fusing the rhythms and harmonies of African American music with the European tradition of classical music.  The American music that is the star of this concert is completed by the most famous work of Ferde Grofé, Grand Canyon Suite, a composer who had already become famous a few years earlier for having done the instrumentation of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Grofé manages to turn the grandiose American landscape into music: a nature of sound filled with energy, rhythm and sensitivity. More info.

Summer Concerts with OSCyL and OBC

Soloist with Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra.

Foto Soria_WEBReview Mundoclásico – José del Rincón. Rachmaninoff: Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini, Op. 43. Otoño Musical Soriano. September 16th 2011. “One of the guests orchestras at the Otoño Musical Soriano Festival was the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, which after a few years of a certain apathy recovered its best sound with british conductor Andrew Gourlay, winner of the Cadaqués International conducting competition. Gourlay accompanied very well to the fabulous pianist Alex Alguacil, not so well-known as he ought to be outside his native Catalonia. They offered a precise, fluent, clear an energetic musical performance of the Rhapsodhy on a theme by Paganini, which is one of the most famous works by Rachmaninov, but less programmed than his own second and third piano concertos”.
